Lilley's Sand and Gravel

Located in Hall County, 2 miles south of the Wood River I-80 exit 300. Lilley's includes about 20 sandpit lakes surrounded by tall cottonwoods along the Platte River. It provides a perfect setting for migrating warblers and other passerines such as orchard orioles and rose-breasted grosbeaks. A $3 admission is requested for fishing and other recreational uses. The Platte River forms its northern boundary and provides good viewing of waterbirds such as least terns and a variety of sandpipers. Part of the property is still an active sand and gravel pit operation with heavy equipment in use so extreme caution should be observed in entering and leaving the area.
